Brazo de Mercedes & Canonigo
I made two desserts this weekend which belong to the same family. The first one is a custard cream filled log which is popularly known as Brazo de Mercedes and the second one is called Canonigo, a meringue with caramel bottoms and drizzled with custard sauce. Brazo de Mercedes has a firm custard cream filling while Canonigo sort of floats in caramel syrup and served with custard sauce. Both has that melts-in-your-mouth quality and they're a real treat for custard lovers.

It makes me wonder if these two desserts were concocted by the same person. Anyway, whenever I make Brazo de Mercedes, Canonigo will immediately come to mind and vice versa. There’s a similarity in the taste although they are cooked differently.
