Bagel Chips

Think again before you trash day-old bagels- you can still make something out of them. In fact they could be older as long as they don't smell bad and look bad, they're perfect chips material.

I have four bagels which I sliced thinly with a serrated knife

Then I melted half a stick of unsalted butter and mixed 3 tablespoons olive oil with it in a baking pan. (you can stick the pan in the oven while preheating)

I lightly dipped both sides of each bagel slice into the mixture then arrange them in a parchment paper lined baking sheet

Then sprinkled the bagel pieces with my spice mix of:

1 tbsp onion powder
1 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp 21 seasoning salute
(you can use other spices of your preference)

Then baked them in the oven at 350 degrees F six minutes per side

While the chips are baking, I whisked together the following:

half a pkg. cream cheese, softened
juice of 1 lemon
1 tsp chili flakes
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp fresh cracked black pepper
1/2 tsp parsley flakes
1 tbsp chopped fresh thyme
2 tbsp milk
1 tbsp chopped sun dried tomatoes plus a whole piece for garnish
1 tsp paprika

There you go- bagel chips with creamy dipping sauce and ready in half an hour! How easy is that?

So next time you get tired of your bagels, think bagel chips and how easy it is to make and how with the right spices and a lot of love you can make your own version tastier and more delicious.
